What is freight class/NMFC?

Freight class, also known as NMFC (National Motor Freight Classification), is a categorization system used in the shipping industry to price and classify shipments within, to, or from the United States. It’s calculated based on various factors such as ease of handling, value, weight, dimensions (length, height), density, and the risk of liability. If you’re uncertain about determining your shipment’s freight class, you’re encouraged to reach out to op@uucargo.ca for guidance and support.

A Bill of Lading (BOL) is the document issued by the carrier to the shipper of goods.

This document is essential for exporters to get paid and importers to get their merchandise.

Should something happen to your cargo, a BOL is required for compensation in the event of any damage, delay, or loss.

The BOL provides a tracking number to track your freight and includes international shipping details.

LTL pricing is generally based on:

Weight and dimensions of the shipment

Distance between the origin and destination

Freight class (type of goods, value, and handling requirements)

Additional services such as liftgate, residential delivery, or insurance

UUCargo provides a quote after you enter shipment details in your account or contact customer support.

LTL shipments are generally too large for parcel shipping but do not require a full truck.

Palletizing and shrink-wrapping services are available in some cities and require an additional fee.
Please check your UUCargo account or contact customer support at (604) 998-1888 / info@uucargo.ca for availability and pricing.

No, UUCargo does not accept hazardous materials for LTL shipments.

Hazardous or dangerous goods must be shipped using specialized carriers that comply with government regulations.

To prepare your shipment for LTL (Less Than Truckload) transport:

  1. Properly package each item to prevent damage.

  2. Label each package clearly with the destination address and contact information.

  3. Palletize your shipment if possible, or consider shrink-wrapping for stability (available in some cities for an extra fee).

  4. Provide accurate weight and dimensions when booking.

  5. Include any required documentation, such as commercial invoices for cross-border shipments.

Yes, UUCargo offers liftgate service for shipments that require assistance with loading or unloading.

This service may incur an additional fee and is available in certain locations.

Please check your UUCargo account or contact customer support at (604) 998-1888 / info@uucargo.ca for availability and pricing.
